About Black Moon Farm
Black Moon Farm is located in Alto Quiel, Boquete, Chiriquí at an elevation of 1,700 to 1,780 m.a.s.l. The farm used to be a vegetable farm with degraded and eroded soil. Owner and Q Grader, Hunter Tedman, aims torestore soil fertility and microbial life through regenerative agriculture.
In 2018, when the first coffee trees were planted, an additional four thousand trees of different species were added to grow a biodiverse forest canopy. Some species have been specifically planted to support the growth of the coffee trees under their shade, others to help trap nitrogen and others to produce food for the animals that help with pollination. Hunter’s goal is to establish a clean coffee production by trapping as much of the generated carbon back into the soil to naturally fertilise it.
