Delightful brews for the holiday season
The month of December always awakens a sense of anticipation and joy. Perhaps is the knowledge of happy celebrations with family, the buzz in the streets or the promise of days off. And speaking of togetherness, we have brought two lots this month that we hope will warm your days.
These two beans come from family-run farms in Boquete, introduced to us by Mr Plínio Ruiz, SCAP president (
Las Delicias Coffee Estates Geisha Natural
As the name reveals, this Geisha Natural lot hails from Las Delicias ('The Delights' in English) Coffee Estate. The Candanedo family established the coffee farm in the 1960s, initially focusing on Criollo and Caturra varieties. The Estate is located at 1,500 m.a.s.l. in the Alto Jaramillo area of Boquete.
In 2011, the next generation of the family – José Ricardo and his sister Sueleny Sicilia – made a significant shift in their production, introducing the geisha coffee variety to the Estate, which it exclusively cultivates to this date.
In 2019, Las Delicias Coffee Estate showcased its exceptional quality at the Best of Panama coffee competition receiving an impressive score of 92.25, securing the 8th position in the highly competitive Natural & Special Processes Geisha category.
Profile Lavender, Apricot, Blueberry jam. With a bit of Cereal notes. Intense and lingering finish.
Finca Clavo de Oro Golden Nail Pacamara Natural
Little-known Finca Cafetalera Clavo de Oro (“Golden Nail” in English) is nestled in the heart of Boquete in the area known as El Salto, at 1,600 m.a.s.l. next-door neighbour of Chevas Coffee Estate. The farm is owned by the González family and is notable for its signature Pacamara Natural.
Profile Pink guava, Tamarind, Hints of grapefruit, Dark plum. Complex and intense.
We are delighted (punt intended) to bring to our stage these two lots and invite you to try them out and discover Panama’s lesser-known coffee farms.
